   You are invited to a special WESS conversation with Professor Jack
Corliss on December 13, 2001 at 7:00. Jack, who is among the
founding members of WESS, is currently teaching in Hungary. Old
friends and acquaintances are especially welcome.

agreement with our hosts requires us to submit a firm number
of reservations at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

The location of Les Halles Brasserie is about four blocks east of the
White House and twelve blocks west of the Capital. Les Halles is
close to the Washington Metro stations of Metro Center and Federal
Triangle. Several parking garages are in the immediate vicinity.

Guests are welcome to this conversation.

You are also invited to an open discussion of a recent book by
WESSmembers. WESSbook will meet on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 8, 2001
at 1:00 PM in Room 262 at the Reiss Science Building on the
Georgetown University campus. The book to be
discussed is:

Freedom, Modernity and Islam, Toward a Creative Synthesis
By Richard K. Khuri, Syracuse University Press.

Richard will participate in the discussions. Guests are welcome.
