Dear Dr. Shu-Kun Lin,
Thank you for your reference.
I was really surprised reading the definition of information and even
more, the text on the theory of information. Really, how it is possible
to give an adequate definition of information if the authors don't know
and don't want to know anything beyond the Shannon's statistical theory
of information. Now there are many other information theories. To
mention but a few, we have: semantic information theory, qualitative
information theory, algorithmic information theory, dynamic information
theory, economic information theory, and general information theory,
which unifies all others.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Burgin
