Dear Friends,

We remind you of the Regional Pan-European Ministerial Conference in
preparation of the World Summit on Information Technology (WSIS),
which will take place in Bucharest, Romania on 7-9 November, 2003.

The Regional Pan-European Conference will be an opportunity for
presenting national strategies, achievements and challenges that will
help the participants to have an accurate view of the stage in the
transition process to Information Society as well as an opportunity
to develop a platform for dialogue that includes all major
stakeholders at European level - governments, civil society, private
sector and international agencies.

The Bucharest Pan-European Regional Conference, in preparation of
WSIS, expects the attendance of more than 2000 delegates, from 55
countries, from Europe and the North American continent.

National delegations should include representatives of governments,
business sector, academic community, civil society and the media

Schedule of the Regional Pan-European Conference taking place in
Bucharest covers the following thematic debates: e-government,
e-inclusion, e-learning and quality of life in the Information
Society. The participants will also take part in a workshop that aims
to define the Information Society and in a business round table
entitled "How to create an attractive environment for investments in
the new economy", Moreover, the manifestations will include parallel
events on the following themes: the role of mass - media in promoting
the Information Society, building a gender sensitive Information
Society, youth as users and creators in the Information Society, the
promotion of cultural diversity and linguistic pluralism within the
Information Society.
